Objectives:
In my career, I strive for opportunities to utilize a healthy balance of the creative and technical skills, which I’ve developed in my education and work, thus far. Ideally, I’d like to work in shooting (or assisting shooting) product photography, digitally retouching photography, and continuing to create fine art photography.

Employment:
11/2000 – present: Kohls Corporation, Menomonee Falls, WI
Employed as E-com Product Photographer for the Advertising Department. Duties include shooting commercial product photography for the website. I’ve worked with the Mega-vision, Kodak DCS, and Nikon D2x digital systems for shooting everything Kohls sells, from sweaters to toasters to room-size rugs. Beyond shooting, I perform the digital manipulation in Photoshop, which many of the photos require. I was hired at the very start of "Kohls.com" in 2000, so I’ve had the excellent opportunity to shape and form a new project from the roots up. It’s given me a solid sense of the trial-and-error and reworking of systems for a constant upgrading of efficiency and quality. As the E-com Photographer with the most seniority, I’ve also taken on a teaching and leadership role.

7/1999-present: Amy Schmutte Photography, Milwaukee, WI
From '99 through 2000 (about a year and a half), I was completely self-employed, shooting and assisting other photographers on a freelance basis. I procured shoots for advertising agencies such as Laughlin Constable and Grasso Roemer, as well as maintaining client-direct accounts for companies such as Milwaukee Cylinder. I was fortunate to assist very reputable independent photographers such as Rob Hagen, and Thomas Edwards, as well as staff photographers at studios such as Allan-Knox and Kohls. Presently, I still freelance (commercial work) on the side of my full-time position at Kohls, as well as operate business for my fine art photography through art festivals, galleries and my website, www.glassography.com.

7/1998-7/1999: Double D Associates, Butler, WI
Employed as Photographer/Photo Studio Manager. Duties included shooting commercial photography, in-studio and on-location, using 35 mm, med., and large format, digital and film. Other duties included processing of E-6 slide film on a Jobo processor, slide duplication and mounting. I also helped with retouching of photos in Photoshop. Manager duties included organization and upkeep of equipment, ordering supplies, managing duties of intern/assistant, and meeting with clients for project coordination and art direction.

7/1997-7/1998: K-Kolor, Ltd., Lannon, WI
Employed as Photographer. Duties included shooting commercial photography, in-studio and on-location, using 35 mm, med., and large format, digital and film. I used a lot of Photoshop for color-correction, clean-up of product flaws, and block-outs. I also learned proofing techniques, as K-Kolor did pre-press as well as design and photography. I met with clients on a regular basis, for project coordination and on-shoot art direction. I also kept up the studio supplies, equipment and filing of jobs.

5/1996-8/1997: Design North, Inc., Racine WI
Internship as Assistant to the staff Photographer. Duties included assisting/shooting commercial products, portraits, business sites (on-location), set-construction, product prepping, and filing.

Education:
1/1993-12/1996: Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Milwaukee, WI
Bachelor of Fine Arts 1996: Photography Major, Graphic Design Minor
Note: My college education consisted of an extreme emphasis on creativity combined with a sturdy base of technical skill. I became proficient in the use of 35 mm thru 4x5 cameras, as well as darkroom processing and printing in b&w and color. My internship left me with a strong “hands-on” knowledge of studio lighting and set-construction. The minor in Graphic Design equipped me with computer skills and a good sense of the design elements, such as composition, shape, color, etc., as well as a familiarity with the graphics industry.

Scholarships :
MIAD Merit Scholarship, for Graphic Design work during 1993-1994
MIAD Merit Scholarship, for Photography work during 1995-1996

Volunteer:
7/2005-7/2006: Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization, Milwaukee, WI
Mentoring as a "Big Sister" to a "Little Sister" (12 yrs. old).
